Who I am.

Who I am.  I’m a guy that likes to work.  I know that a lot of people don’t appreciate the simple pleasure of doing work.  There’s something satisfying seeing the project move along, whatever it may be.  I have been working since I was thirteen.  Now, I can’t call what I did at home work cause I didn’t get paid anything as a kid.  So, I’ve been at making money for quite a while.  All along the way there have been opportunities to learn at my various jobs, and I’ve taken advantage of just about all of them.  I was in the Army and learned about maintenance and troubleshooting on helicopters.  Soon I was a crewmember on one of them and was doing maintenance test flights and cool stuff like that.  I got out of the service after twelve years and used the experiences there to become a millwright in one of the oldest redwood sawmills in California.  This gave me invaluable experience.  I later moved into the electrical shop.  While working at the sawmill another chance to learn was afforded me.  I was able to delve into water distribution and treatment processes.  This led me to a large water district after the mill closed.  I have had a varied and interesting path throughout my life, it seems that one door opens as another one is closing.  At home my family and I also have a small homestead to attend to, so other learning opportunities round out my “spare”time.  Between tending fences, working with animals, and growing things there’s a lot to do.  So there you have it. I work, a lot.  But, I enjoy all of this “work” because I get to spend time with my kid and wife, visit with neighbors and family while seeing the fruits of it all ever increasing.  And again there’s always something to learn.
